It is the VETERAN , not the preacher,
who has given us freedom of religion.
It is the VETERAN , not the reporter,
who has given us freedom of the press.
It is the VETERAN , not the poet,
who has given us freedom of speech.
It is the VETERAN , not the campus organizer,
who has given us freedom to assemble.
It is the VETERAN , not the lawyer,
who has given us the right to a fair trial.
It is the VETERAN , not the politician,
Who has given us the right to vote.
It is the VETERAN ,
who salutes the Flag,
It is the VETERAN,
who serves under the Flag, !
THANK YOU
My son called me from Afghanistan and wished me a happy birthday. We didn't get to stay on long, only about 5-6 minutes, but it was good to talk to him. It made my day.
yesterday. My sister and I took her to a supper club near our houses that has performances held there. They had a group of 4 boys that called themselves 'Forever Plaid'. They were a lot of fun to see. They were part stand up comedy, part play and part singing. Those boys could HARMONIZE. It had a late fifties early sixties theme and was very entertaining. This place has 25 acres of gardens and walking trails and a 2 acre tree maze. It was very beautiful. We thought my mom would like it and she did. She's only going to be 60 once, so we wanted to make it a memorable one.

My son called last night before I went to bed and told me that he had just gotten a call and was told he would be shipping out and had 24 hours to pack up his belongings. His deployment date had been changed a few times but now his plane will be taking off at midnight tonight. As a parent you try to put your best face forward and support your child when they need you, but now that the moment for him to leave is here, I have to say that it really just sucks. I'm sure i'm not the only parent or family member to ever feel this way. All I can do is send him off with our love and support and the knowledge that we'll be here waiting for him when he comes home.
The The roses are finally starting to bloom this year. These were originally from my mom's house. She said they had taken over her yard and asked that I help her cut them back. They were everywhere and these were parts from the ones we removed. I didn't think they would grow because they roots were kind of mangled, but they thrived (just SLIGHTLY out of control).
Here is the bush that's all most as big as the tree. The top of the bush is as tall as my house.
I enjoy this time of year.
No rain, minimal clouds, mid 70's for a temp and best of all- I DON'T WORK TODAY! Yea!
I just want to say thanks to the soldiers who have served - past or present. I appreciate you.
